    good backtesting software

I would love to start backtesting some egies but that I don't know how to do it. Can someone recommend a good platform or software bundle I may use. Price is somewhat of an issue, but I am willing to spend in order to maximize earnings possible. I'd appreciate any help.
    Thanks

Both Tradestation and Wealth-Lab Developer are good for backtesting trading egies. Wealth-Lab is $650 to buy, then you have to provide your own data, while I think tradestation is $200 a month, or $100 in the event that you have a $5000 account together with profit capital.
Other choices are Metatrader and Amibroker, but I don't how good they are. I think Wealth-lab and Tradestation are better, but I suppose it depends on what you require.

Wealth laboratory seems like a much better deal, but how do you provide your own data. Is this service one must pay for. I have been on their site but it's somewhat confusing, and it is not specifically geared toward Forex. Is it a hindrance? Thank you, PT.

I know it's not aimed at FX, but its not actually a issue. For data, you need to consider Forex.DataHQ since they provide intraday data (from FXCM) to get a monthly fee that you may become into wealth-lab. Otherwise, in the event that you merely need end of day data, you may either loe that for free somewhere on the net, or pay for it. I figure you get what you pay for, and the quality of the data is not always good. Especially not the info that is free.

    Hi,

I have read lots of post of Metatrader having inaccurate backtest results.

I utilize Amibroker, $149 Standard version down to 1min periodicity. $229 version for tick information.

Backtesting is accurate and incredibly fast.Decent support. Fantastic user community via yahoo mailing list and message board. Using a little jiggery pokery you can use the free live Metatrader information feed and then connect it into Amibroker.

Have a poke around http://amibroker.com/, they've some tutorials.

    Best regards
    Alan
