    My news trading experiment

I've been trading just news events for the last two months at a mini account and I'm prepared to begin a thread here so I may have a wonderful spot to put a log and so I can take advantage of the community's mind power and trading knowledge to fill in any gaps I've in my egy.

Oh this original post is not all that forthcoming, I'm home from work to get a quick bite to eat and I figure I better start the thread or I never will.

I did take one trade this morning on the US news jumble at 8:30am ET before I headed out to the workplace.

    USD/JPY: brief 117.10 (8:02am ET), TP 116.94 16

Hope everyone did well, particularly the wonderful HUGE reversal once I left for work.

I place my limit buy on the GBP/USD at 1.9032, using a stop at 9060 (directly above the local high at 7:55am ET) along with my TP at 1.900.
    I'm a little confused...

BUY LIMIT? How can you place a buy @ 1.9032 using a Take Profit of 1.9000? Did you mean that a SHORT? Or did you get confused with involving your SL/TP?

Usually I steer clear of big news days but something Merlin said made me re-think.
I thought rather than trying to guess UP or DOWN - just how far to straddle - where to put stops - etc, I chose to let it do its thing then (and I quote) fade that shit....
Set my 1st buy limit at 1.9025 as well as the 2nd in 1.8965 and the rest is history.
With practice I might even get to enjoy this....
I realised that I tried to figure where the market would reach, instead of waiting and tracking it back up. It worked this time, maybe next time....

Peter I am a huge fan of the fade, I just need to figure out the way to get it done while I am sitting at the office. That I why I go for short trades on the first direction.

Congrats on the HUGE evening for you!!

I'm not embarrassed to admit I was sitting on a cable -40 odd pip commerce before today. Went in extended 1.9055 on the 30th and been thinking shall I shut, shall I hold?
That is the trouble with being a newbie, things always look clear 20 seconds after you've pulled the trigger.
So I had a good long look at this until I moved , and had a clear insight into what I had been attempting to realize. I'll still count myself as lucky this time, but at least I learnt another way of trading the news, while it's bad or good, time will tell. It just sounded more logical after I had recognized what had been sayin - I can not understand why more people do not do it. Maybe it's that the 10 -20 pip fast trade habits they have gotten into.
Still, who am I to judge anybody

It went really good with me since I seized 71 pips euro long and 73 pips euro short.
    So total:71 73= 144( a comprehensive fibl achieved today )

I will post charts in my journal.

    congrats!

I had a long in euro$ befor news based on nudging. But my s/l wasn't far down to accomidate the motion.

I'm usually screwed if I do not get the first leadership right. If I do get it right I have a modest 20-30 pips just incase of change.

I was nearly going to have a short after retrace but did not have a close other side of 8 ema to give me the short signal and sat it out.

News appears to do nothing but make me mad and obscure my wave count on low 1 hr time frame.

I hope to find something consistant for news transactions. Sounds like you got a great one with your payoff method.

Beautiful. I captured half that over the NFP and ISM. I'm somewhat more conservative in my news trades though...

It was an interesting reversal wasn't it! I'm from Sydney, Australia. So occupation numbers come out at 10:30PM Sydney time. After the Euro information was a tiny flat I decided to short Euro at 1.2811. Took profit after Jobs information at 1.2774 - really happy with that one
All the forcasts were anticipating job amounts to improve, it was just natural that I believed as soon as the numbers did show an improvement. But you don't have to stick around the commerce over the weekend, you never know... so that I exited when the trade started to re-trace a bit. Basing with this one.

Good luck everybody! Happy News Trading.
    Big week next week:
    1: Canada interest rate conclusion
2: BOE rate decision. Recall last time BOE hiked if no one expected they would. Should be an interesting trade!

    All the best,
    r
