Using the same historical data folder for many MT4 installs

    Hi there,

Can there be anybody who could explain me how can I save some disk space?

I am using many MT4 installations for back testing. Every one of them needs the data in the default folder. That means I keep the data which necessitates gigabytes in my SSD at many folders.
Will there be a option to keep the historical data in just one folder and make some kind of redirection for every MT4 installation so a lot of them knows where the historical data is saved?

    Thanks in advance for explanation,
    Cookerx

If your file system is NTFS, then you might create junctions for sharing any folders (mklink /J).

Hi, only need to make certain, do I subsequently share/link
    ...\history\downloads
    and
    ...\history\xxx-Live_xx
    ?

Or do I have to share the entire history for conducting multiple mt4 instances simultaneously sharing historical data?

    Greetings All.
I'm working on a SpreadSheet app to analize historical trade date which will use CSV. Files available in MT4 my question is where are those files loed how do I access them? Could they be automatically exported into the SpreadSheet from MT4?

Does anyone maybe have any info/experience with which folders to link as a minimum for running several MT4 instances on the same historic data in order to save space in my hard disk?

Before win10 we can only create a .bat document and open as many examples of the exact same MT4 we wish. Nonetheless, it appears to not function with win10. If you happen to want to test, just create a .bat file such as this case (it opens 2 instances, add lines and open ):

    begin D:\FOREX\terminal.exe /e%1
    begin D:\FOREX\terminal.exe /e%1

Or you can check these tips on https://www.itechtics.com/run-multip...am-windows-10/

I attempted something here and I managed to open one more example. I've my mt4 icon repaired on task bar. I started as admin holding CTRL SHIFT, then opened another example just by holding SHIFT and clicking again in the exact same icon.

P.S. I understand this is not what you asked as it'll have the exact same account number. But just changing the magic number will perform the job.

I have no difficulty running numerous instances of MT4 and I prefer running them from separate terminals.

All I want to do is talk about the background data between them. Creating junctions work very well on Windows 10.
So I am hoping someone knows precisely which background folders is imperative to be shared between numerous MT4 instances.
