In the end it all depends on the $ / kwH you cover. The cheaper, the better. But if you reside in an area with higher electricity prices, you'd have to mine for a year in 24/7 to amortize the cost of the ASIC miner, given BTC price keeps steady or keeps rising.

And don't fall for things such as investing in Bitcoin Mines and anticipate a big payoff. There are several incentives such as that and by what you may read across the internet they are all a ponzi and also a rip-off.

...I cover .12 cents for power in my area and I've solar panels a friend gave me along with a good transformer that convert 12 volts into 110 volts, the antminer S9 generates 8 thousand dollar annually and the price tag is 1899, a few how your math is wrong somewhere, but I appreciate your article, thanks and happy new year mw108....

$1899? On the site you linked the price tag is $3000 using a PSU shipping cost from China. So you probably wind up paying $3100. In addition, you need to think about sudden fees for other as well as cooling stuff. And there is always something unexpected or something breaks down.

So from the very first year you make $5000 at the best case. But you also need to take into account the volatility and uncertainity of the BTC price. The time BTC had a huge price drop just like Dec it went into a downtrend for 2 years.

    Risky investment in my view.

. . .Good enough, stay far from BTC, I got you. . .thanks...

....Other people that will like to invest in rigs, show them so I can learn how to mine, thanks a lot...I adore risky business, particularly enjoy the ones that go from 0 to 20 000 ....and when I can mine it.... Even better....

. . .The antminer from the link is $ 1899 and 166 transport to my home in Hialeah Florida, I cover .12 pennies electricity and with a few solar panels a friend gave me personally I think is less than .09 pennies, I understand the freight because I purchased one and is about e-bay for $4999, when I sale it soon, I will buy two more to have one available and place the other one to mine, fair enough...
