    Currency Futures

It occured to me that you will find currency futures. I knew it but I have never really put two and two together. Has anyone found it to be useful to follow the currency futures to identify trends? And if so, how can they work?

To anybody put off by the inverted scale compared to money or the premium/discount as a result of future delivery date the CME have a money equal quotes page:

Agreed they are much better than money FX market manufacturers for the huge majority of retail speculators for the six major currencies against the USD.

A superb resource for anyone interested in currency Futures is a free course being offered by the CME at the moment called The Dynamics of Foreign Exchange. That is a new course and I've found it a good introduction. The course covers:

    History and concepts of FX
Trading CME FX futures and options
Currency pricing - spot, futures and cross-rates
    How to utilize CME E-quivalents®
    Hedging with FX
Concepts of fundamental and technical analysis from FX markets
    Basic FX trading egies
Special features of this course's Internet version include:
    Online quizzes and examinations.
    E-mail contact CME course teachers.
Interactive Bulletin Board for submitting questions to other pupils and CME online course teachers.
Ability to earn a CME Certifie of Achievement.

The very best thing it is absolutely free.

I wasn't really considering trading FX futures. And here's why. Unless things have changed in the last 5 years (and they probably have) the futures game was a rich mans game. I played for a little with them . Mostly commodities though and not FX futures. I never needed the money reserves to really have a place in a contract that in retrospect was probably a good thing. I heard from a Ken Roberts course my mother and dad purchased. And I am begining to find that Roberts instructs one or two methods out of tens of thousands. I was missing a lot of info. Anyhow.... back on track. I did play with futures options though for a while and dropped my $$ for the reason mentioned previously. I was missing a lot of information and jumped in with little if any eduion. (I will not say that's Ken's error ) I have imagined that futures today require a far bigger cash pile than say investing in a micro or mini account in spot forex.

I would feel that many of the chart technicals would be the exact same for both markets in regards to fib lines, retracements, etc.. . I plan on trading futures... later on. But maybe not right now. I was just thinking that there may be some corrolation between futures prices and spot prices in finding a long-term trend.

I'll look at cbot again, possibly things have changes and they have smaller contracts allowing smaller traders into the market now. It is going to also allow me to get a game plan together for the day I really do begin trading stocks, commodities, FX, metals or other.

Just currious what Broker would you use to trade futures and why did you pick the one you have. Just how much more are the margin requirements in futures Forex? I've been considering Futures for quite a while now, but never really checked it out. When you trade futures they aren't available 24 hours per day just like Forex right?

I have been looking at charts like gold and oil they seem pretty easy to trade versus Currency lately they just go in 1 direction UP. Lots of forecasts out there that gold is going to $800 and oil to 100 sometime in the brief future. Can it be more economical to perform place Gold than futures? Can there be any such thing as place oil?

Why not just trade currency futures?
