I assume you are running Linux of some kind. If so, see post #4. If you are running Strategy Tester using dates checked it will not work under Wine. You need to unleash your EA as I indie in post #4 - Strategy Tester operates fine like that.
Thanks! The extra trouble is worth it in my opinion. Windows is just too much of a liability for me. I truly shouldn't be using ubuntu possibly, When I really get serious about forex I will probably go for FreeBSD (most secure OS in my opinion, because it is the very frequent for hosting large, busy sites) Once I get an extra gig of ram it needs to be sweet. .

Thats a conventional wndows DLL for shared controls eg. textboxes , listviews etc..

I have it running today but it's quite slow (on a 1gig notebook), I can not type anything to the EA parameters (the mouse pointer keeps flashing using a no entry icon).

I read someplace there's another dll required to stop some annoyances, its name is some thing with commonctrl.dll or anything like that, please remember the name exactly, its some runtime dll from microsoft, not sure whether it is included with windows.

I've read that too but not enough details about what problem it will solve to make me need to mess with it should you find out what comctl32.dll is supposed to mend in MT4/Wine please place it - I'd love to understand.

P.S. this dll is already in Wine in regards...

Lou, that worked quite well on the Input values. Now I can get into the boxes to change parameters, but I can't get into the Colour values, F2 doesn't operate on them. Any ideas about what can I get me to the color drop down box, or the lineup style/width boxes?
No way that I have discovered besides to recompile - I have been operating Debian/Wine/Metatrader almost a year and have done a LOT of searching. That does not mean there is no way - just that I can't loe it

I have installed MT4 beneath Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 and Wine 1.0.1.

    I detect that

I can't sort into any input box in any custom made indior
    Try F2...

additionally, you will most likely want Wingding.ttf for particular characters (arrows, etc.) - look about, and it is free on the internet if you search.

Same for Microsuck truetype fonts - that I use Debian and there is a package called msttcorefonts - set up these and copy them into wine/drive_c/windows/fonts together with the Wingding fonts. Metaeditor won't function without them.

Strategy tester will not work with dates - you'll want to mod your EA to specifically select a date range. Wrap your own EA code if(time[0] gt;= strtotime(2009.06.01 00:00)) to test since 6/1/09, for instance.

I've installed MT4 under Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 and Wine 1.0.1.

    I notice that

I can't type into any input box in any Customized indior
I can alter inputs from the tick boxes under Visualisation tab and Shared tabs for Custom indiors
I can type into the inputs box from the Default indiors although not exactly the Custom indiors

I uninstalled Wine, and reinstalled, and downloaded the newest instance of MT4 from IBFX. Same problem happened.

Metaeditor functions fine, so that I can alter parameters from recompiling, but it isn't an perfect solution. Has anybody managed to find MT4 running without these problems?
