It is known that the dollar has safe haven status. Throughout the subprime meltdown it was evident since the dollar climbed stonger against currencies exept the Yen.

What I would like to gain are many others viewpoints as to why this happens. People are not simply buying the dollar because it is a safe haven and thats what you do?

I believe it could be the massive amount of US equity investors and US and overseas forex traders repatriating their funds to US dollars in times when riskier assets are not as favourable. The dollar may also profit as a result of increase in treasury note demand at this moment, seen since the US Treasury note has become the most favourable (am I correct in saying this?) .

Others views addressing why this happens would be greatly valued. Thanks!
