    What is a Trailing Stop?

Hello men; this seems kind of dumb to all you expierenced traders, however what's a trailing stop? In what situations should it be utilized? I have been trading actively for a month or two, and been slumping lately. I wondering if a trailing stop aid in the situations when a halt loss can't. I'm not concerned about the slump since I have been told by many traders who from time to time you'll inevitably eliminate money. However, I only want to understand as much as possible.

    Hi,

Can there be any broker which allows you to modify your stop loss to some trailing stop when the price reaches a certain degree automatically?

In this way, I don't have to constantly monitor the prices.

    Thanks,
    Jason

Trailing stop is the better of the two. The trailing stop paths behind the price at a set difference as long as the price rises.

Well everything was said about monitoring stop already. I just wanna talk a bit about the slump you go through. You are simply trading a couple of weeks, you need to expect to stay within this slump for a couple of years until you find and edge that functions (except you are seriously lucky and find one earlier). Trailing stops per se may increase an edge, but they can not create one.

A trailing stop is a shing stop reduction that follows the price (in its planned direction)

if you buy a currency pair at 1.0020 and you set a stop loss at 20 pips under that, 1.0000, then your commerce will shut when the price hits 1.0000.

If you place a trailing stop of 20 pips to get the exact same buy order at 1.0020, then this is what occurs. The tracking stop follows the price, when the price goes up 10 pips to 1.0030, then the trailing stop extends up 10 pips to 1.0010. After the price comes back down, the stop does not change.

Basically a tracking stop helps you lock in some of those pips that went on your direction, but if put too near the price then it may be triggered to shut your order by a sudden price fluctuation.

    Hey men,

Certainan , this is a really good question. This is going to be very helpful but I don't know a broker that delivers this function. Also, I'd like to add that a lot of the brokers flip the trailing into normal stop when the platform is switched off! Take care...
