There are a few rather sharp minds on this website(genuine intellectual heavyweights) and I've had the fantastic chance to read their deep discourses on which constitutes a border. How with no edge one is trading using negative expectancy, etc.etc.
Assuming level playing areas (no insider information),IMHO a border is nothing more than the ability to recognise recurring patterns on the marketplace. I believe money management and pattern recognition would be as good an edge as you can hope for.
I'm starting this journal for my live trades with what I believe is my edge.
I will be trading Cable on intraday basis. I will risk 2% or less per trade.
I use no indiors to enter or depart my transactions. I do use Pitchforks and Fib Retracements to analyse the marketplace.
Starting amount $150K

Please notice the aim of this thread isn't to argue the relative merits of my own beliefs.

My outlook for Cable is bearish. Price is heading towards the line and also based on Dr Andrews it should reach the point about 80 percent of the time. There is a confluence at around 1.9475. It is the 78.6% retracement from the reduced of Jan 21st. There is also the energy point at A, according to TMorge. In accore with his 30 year plus experience prices are attracted to these energy points. Well lets wait and see how the marketplace evolves over the coming days.

An extremely joyous day for me personally. I took a transaction and regardless of the desire to take profit after 60 pips I had been disciplined enough to follow my own plan and then take pips. I have had winners but this is maybe the very best trade that I have ever done.

Not a fantastic day to begin a journal. Tons of data that is fundamental at different times of the day out now.
When the dust had settled after the 2.30 news launch, I went of Cable using a 3.1 reward/risk ratio. Cable dropped its momentum and came back to stop out me using a 7 pip gain.

I have been trading for a few months now and have the same ideas as you've. I found pattern recognition to be effective in my trading, especially the 123 reversal pattern have supplied some returns to me. When you look at the transfer upward for GBP/USD, everything started with a 123 design. The big move down on the EUR/CHF, all started from a 123 design.

It is named Medianline and he's got some fantastic stuff there, particularly on entries. I started a blog last year doing PFs, but I stopped as it was too time consuming. I'd be more than pleased to chip in here on occasion.

The project with Habib Bank was a churn and burn setup, they only wanted to pull out commissions and did not give a damn about client's account. I suspect there's lots of outfits doing crap like this.

Z May I ask what your final goal is? You may have success if you are attempting to attain a particular amount of money, then yes. You'll need a stomach of iron, a system, patience, and a little luck. It can be performed!! You're headed down a more rocky road if, however, your goal is to take gains out each month to another 10 years. Hopeless, but the odds are stacked very high. I'd encourage you to reconsider goal. I need you all the best.

May I ask what your ultimate goal is? You might have achievement if you are trying to attain a particular amount of money, then yes. Why do you believe he's not doing well in his trading? He just said that he's a border and MM that was decent and he's very good to go. I did not say that he wasn't performing well. I expect he is, also may contiune to be for a very long while. Just because he says he's a border does not make it so. Belief has nothing to do with it. Recognizing patterns and looking at a chart is not a definable, measurable edge in the forex market. He might be profitable for a long time, or he may go back in 6 months or less. Given enough time it's an almost mathematical certainty that he'll lose. It is fairly possible, however, in the short run to create a good deal of money. That's way I inquired about his goal.

I did not say that he wasn't doing well. I expect that he can contiune to be for a long time, also is. However, just because he says he's an edge does not make it so. Given enough time it is an almost certainty that he'll lose. It is possible, but in the brief run to create a lot of cash. That's way I inquired about his final goal. Strange is our situation here upon earth commented Einstein after...I think he must have been after Cable that day.
After yesterdays rate cut cable taken up prediably,then retraced beyond the lows of this day.
This morning I was mildly bearish.
From the chart below when the market failed to get to the median line I went short at 1.9873. Cease was 10 pips above. Market dropped and I moved my stop to breakeven. It proceeded up to retest the reduce paralel and stopped me out for a 6 pip gain.

Got suckered into a traditional dumb move this afternoon. Went brief around 3.15 gmt at 1.9867.
Currently from experience I know that unless there is some information launch,a sudden and voilent move would be to sucker people in. Obviously I have suckered into a really dumb move. It had been dumb from the point of reward/risk ratio, it had been dumb from the purpose of a logical stoploss place. To compound it all my position sizing was amateurish to put it mildly.
Needless to say I have stopped out at 1.9889.
-22 times many infact too many lots.

To answer the question, I don't usually use a particular pip amount to set a stoploss. I put a stoploss at a point at which if my reading of this market is right then my stoploss shouldn't be hit. When it's hit then I admit I was wrong and move on to another installment.

Now I was decided to work in my short bias. At each move I redrew an fork and drew. I received a wonderful trade this morning. It might not be much but it had been obtained with a risk of only 10 pips.Ofcourse I did miss a much stranger commerce to the lows of the day. Its been a good week for me. My patience for a good installation is rising daily. However, my success rate is advancing though my account is still in negative territory and I am now over the mark. I am averaging losing transactions. I am pushing trades. Having said that I think I am still about 4 months away from becoming trader's kind that I wish to become.
Tomorrow I am off to Malaysia for a month or so. I don't know if I'll have the ability to trade on daily basis. Lets see how things materialise.

Got stopped out of my trade for breakeven. Dopey my justifiion for transferring the stoploss with no logical place to conceal it. I was moving against the trend of the afternoon and if I do take a trade I am cautious as price might turn around and keep its main trend. Second, in the intersection of 2 forks one expects price to move quite violently.In this trade I had one big bar and the price went into an energy coil indiing that perhaps it's already spent its downward energy and now its saving energy to move up again. I moved my stop to breakeven so if I am wrong I don't let a commerce.

Hi Zones,

Taking a short today following the very strong up move just isn't a high likelihood move no matter what the PFs show. The movement was at the direction of the trend, although sure it can always turn about. Cost had bottomed out at some support, mainly a longer-term 38% and 50% ret along with the ML. Also, if you redraw your original PF and place the C pivot at the low at 5412 you'll see the upward movement ended at the UML, then came back to the ML and has been riding the ML ever since.

However, moving your stop in this case was the ideal thing to do because you were going against the primary trend and that strong up movement. I know you've got a short prejudice for some reason. However you should not short moves such as this, it simply does not pay off in the long term.

I had been attentive to the fib retracement to 38% and the fact that it bounced off that level very cleanly was a fantastic indiion of the likely bullish movement ahead. I managed to concentrate on the short trade. This bias that is short is quite eccentric. It is rather more serious than I thought. I will give myself till the end of the week to figure out a egy. If I am not able to conquer it trading will stop and trade demo accounts until I overcome it.

Individuals missing yesterdays up movement of 200 and pips was not debilitating but lacking an opportunity to pay off the UPL again is very debilitating.
As I wrote yesterday I no longer wish to exchange the volatility of an information release. Thus missing the journey wasn't any problem. However, after I had sold the red fork to the median line and the marketplace moved to the top parallel line again to offer you another chance to resell it I neglected to do this since I was not focussed is a big problem. This was a very good signal where the odds of a favourable result were even larger than the first commerce. I understand there will be several different opportunities during the day not to mention the rest of my trading career so I should not beat myself about one missed chance. But, the point is that I lost focus by writing in another journal at another website and here.
My new egy of action would be to stop posting live trades here. It has never been my intention to supply live commerce calls. Since that's not the reason then why must I divert myself by taking screenshots, uploading, composing a short explanation and then updating. This takes time and there are times when one has to really comply with the formation of each bar to have a feel if the market movement is in accore with ones expectations. This focus can potentially save many many pips(by cutting reductions faster) and also make a lot many pips(simply moving the gain goal further from cost action). I'll continue to post all of my important trades as well as the commentry daily basis however, I'll do it in the close of the day. I shall perform the weekly analysis and ofcourse in the end of the three month trial I will post my equilibrium and daily motions for the whole period.

Now I implemented an almost perfect trade. Perhaps the best one because I have been writing this diary. The market failed to reach the median point of the upsloping blue fork. Indiing a additional move. This morning at the european session I saw that it was respecting the red branch, so I placed a market order(206.73) of the re-test that also happend to be at the 50% retacement of yesterdays range. I had been full on a spike. My stop loss was just 20 pips above and I wanted to ride it to the median line. It eventually reached the median line and also gave me a profit.

This week I hope to build on the success of past week by being more focussed and selective in my trade choice and implementation, and when God wills then maybe I might even get close to breaking even in my trading accounts.
I shall continue to concentrate on the geppy weekly. If an opportunity arises in the cable shall take it aswell. The essential amount for geppy this week would be the 205.75. If it gives way maybe we could make a dash for the 200 level. If 205.75 holds then we are looking upwards to 208.50 and 209.75 levels. Of course being the beast that it is, anything could happen.

An extremely bad start to the week. Took 2 trades based on whim, entirely against my machine. Well, in the sense that if I took the trade there wasn't any installation that I perceive as an edge. I moved short this morning at 205.50. Stoploss was 30 pips away but since the market moved against me moved my stop away from the price and got stopped out for a 50 pips loss. Then went long at 206.73 just to be stopped out in 206.28. There are no charts today as the trades were taken purely on emotions. A bad bad day in the office today. Oh nicely as Mark Douglas states in the event that you take arbitrary trades then you will get random results.

Although rewarding yet another day at the office. I was happy because I didn't have a valid installment, that all morning I didn't trade. In the day I gave in to my desire to take. Following the US figure, cable fell and I sold it in 2.0085. Managed to get 60 pips. I am disappointed that I failed to follow my system again. As part of these rules I will take the remainder of the week and only trade on a demo accounts.

From trading for the past couple of days, I have enjoyed my little break. It gave me some time to reflect,research,refresh(sufficient of alliteration).
One shocking fact that came from the process was that I have a prejudice to shorting the market. Of all of the trades I have taken live (both posted here and not) 82 percent were brief entries. I realised that of all the enteries 28% have been shot against the tendency for the day when I looked into it. This prejudice for shorting makes me look for a commerce which doen't exist or is present but has a low chance of success.
So the aim of activity for the coming months will be to evaluate the marketplace with an unbiased eye and take what the market is offering compared to what I need it to offer me.

Your monitoring is partially correct. It's true, I had been focusing on the GJ pair. For shorting, this was due to my prejudice and since the geppy was at a mode I had been attracted to it. However, I have realised that this stream in my psyche and I am working on it I appraise a set up for what it is and not what I want it to be. I am now focussed on both GJ and GU and I will be equally comfortable taking a long trade as well as a brief one.

A very much instance of making notes, watching and doing little else. The market is at a stage and after being quoted a spread of 10 pips at geppy and 6 at the cable I knew now would be a fantastic day to remain on the side traces. Aside from spreads I guessed that the stop loss would likewise need to be 60 at the cable and 80 pips at the geppy. The market was explosive that I didn't even take a transaction in the demo account.

I took a short trade this morning at the cable. I offered the re-test of this UML of this red fork in 2.0054, using a stop 16 pips over at 70 and my goal was that the LML of the horn that was blue. Struggling to ride it for a 26 pip gain. Whilst riding it down to the LML was comfortable but I found lots of excuses for not buying the LML of the blue fork. I guess my prejudice for shorting is as strong as before, the only difference is that I am aware of it and I will continue working on it.

Another inactive day. As the volatility in it is crazy by its own standards that were crazy, I've abandoned the monster alone this week. I hoped to grab a down trade . I counted 5 pivots along with the market did turn but I never got an entry. Same thing with cable, there was a setup in the morning prior to the news release but wasn't interested prior to the figure and after the figure I never got a chance.

Today I have had a great day thus far. I missed my entrance both on GU and EU, yesterday. Today I've been lucky. I was able to find short on both. At the Cable I brought a Schiff fork and marketed the UML in 1.9825 using a stop at 1.9840. I've already exited this position at the line at 1.9775. A great exchange for 50pips.
In the EU I missed an entrance yesterday, now I transferred the origin of pivot 3 because I noticed yesterday that cost was respecting the UML but using a different pivot.I sold 1.5595 using a stop 15 pips above at 1.9610. I've moved my stop to 1.5590 and I can ride it to the median line hopefully.

I recalled your rollicking way back in the beginning not let allowing its conclusion is reached by a trade and it skews the ratio. As Morge says give credit where its due. Well I wish to say a public big thank you to you. If I am totally honest I came close to carrying a 60 pip profit and walking off. But, I recalled your rollicking way back in the beginning not let letting a trade reach its logical conclusion and how it skews the risk/reward ratio. I was planning to send you a personal opinion of gratitude but I think I need to mention it in public. My sincerest gratitude to you Mr to your help, encouragement and advice. May God reward you. Today I suggest you do something really positive for your self by today or tomorrow. You have to reward yourself for doing this well. It is positive reinforcement and it is very powerful. Go buy yourself and someone you care about a nice dinner tonight.
